F e r r a r i  250 GT Lusso Berlinetta

Base Kit: 1/24 Scale Kraft Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta #SK068.

Engine Kit: 1/24 Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland Ferrari 250 GT SWB V12 3-liter.

Verdict: Both base kit and the engine kit are reviewed in detail in the Reviews section, so I will not go into pros and cons here. Engine kit is a nice piece with only few minor problems. It builds into a very convincing replica of the real engine and is a perfect for Lusso's powerplant. Base kit on the other hand is very problematic. It molded in good resin, but the quality of the moldings is only average. I have only used few parts of the original kit for this buildup. Body shape is accurate, but the surface required a lot of preparation, puttying and sanding. Chassis was completely modified, together with exhaust system and interior. I can not really comment on the fit of the kit, because I have done way to many modifications to it, and used very little kit parts. But my guess that it was not very good.

This is the only 1/24 kit of the Lusso (except for the old Western Models metal kit), and you really have no choice if you want this model in your collection. I did want it, so the only way was to build it as described on the following pages. I hope you'll enjoy my buildup diary. Recommended only to experienced modelers.
